Helping Service Providers to Fight Smart

Service Providers face enormous challenges as powerful technologies and social applications emerge and the Internet comes of age. The commoditisation of traditional services, intense rivalry in the broadband market and heavy-handed regulation could all trip them up. But the argument that providers are heading for a grim bit-pipe future is surely overstated. There must be alternative approaches or business models that can be implemented to plug the gap left by diminishing voice and data revenues. To find out what these might be, Amdocs commissioned the Economist Intelligence Unit to speak to prominent leaders and drivers in the industry and determine alternative strategic options.

The Economist report suggests that there are five approaches or typologies that service providers could adopt to regenerate growth and address the challenges facing the industry. These types give the service provider a number of very different options ranging from approaches which involve being more efficient , working with rather than fighting against new technologies and going into a new business areas and making use of partnerships.
